About the event
UPDATE: WE ARE NOW FULL UP!! THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST!
Hello to our Equine Friends! The NBLA has been working to improve access to and upgrade an old trail in southwestern Newtown. The trail is on Newtown Open Space and so no special approvals/easements were required from private property owners. We had sections surveyed, cleared the trail, cutting deadfall, removing invasives and posted directional signs. Look for our new “Horse Friendly Trail” signs. We have named it the Farm Meadow Trail. The northern terminus is at the end of Saddle Ridge Road (off of Hattertown) and the southern terminus is at the end of Farm Meadow Rd (off of Poverty Hollow Rd.). The work is now complete. We’d love to show you this trail on Saturday, Sept 21.
The ride will be an “out and back” with total mileage of about 3 miles. We’ll explain how the trail connects to other trails but this first ride will be to familiarize you with this section only. There is one water crossing. Please drive to the end of Saddle Ridge Rd and park your trailer around the cul de sac.
Please note that this is not an NBLA exclusive trail. It can be used for any passive recreation such as walking and bike riding. All motorized vehicles are prohibited.
