Join the NBLA - a non-profit dedicated to preserving Newtown's open spaces and trails for recreational use. Membership is open to all - no need to own a horse or live in Newtown. By becoming a member, you support our work to maintain multi-use trails and advocate for responsible access. Help us celebrate and safeguard the forests, fields, and trails that make Newtown special!

The NBLA is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization dedicated to preserving open space and trails for horses, hikers and mountain bikers and other passive users. The NBLA protects and maintains trails open to all forms of passive recreational use and provides education on how to use those trails sensitively and responsibly.

We welcome all; you don’t have to be a Newtown resident, nor a horse owner, to help us preserve open space and enjoy our beautiful trails. The NBLA welcomes other interest groups, such as hikers and bicyclists.

Individual Membership

The individual membership is perfect for any single outdoor enthusiast who wants to support the NBLA's mission. Ideal for hikers, bikers, horseback riders, nature lovers, and anyone passionate about protecting local recreational land.

Family Membership

Family memberships include 2 adults and all children under 18 years old residing at the same address. A great way for outdoor-loving households to support our mission of preserving open space and trails for all to enjoy.

Barn / Stable Membership

Designed for barns, stables, and riding groups. Includes up to 5 riders from the same barn or stable with additional discounted rates per extra rider. An easy way for equestrian facilities to become NBLA members with group pricing.

Safety

Safety is the responsibility of all; unsafe behavior on or off horseback will not be tolerated.  Helmets and proper footwear are required to ride in NBLA events.

Well-Being

The well-being, health, and safety of horses and others are the priority.  Horses must be in proper condition to participate in NBLA events, including body score, hoof condition and overall health. Horses are to be treated with kindness, respect and compassion. Horses are not to be corrected with harsh or abusive methods.

Ambassadorship

Individuals should act as ambassadors for horses and the sport of horseback riding by promoting a positive relationship between horseback riders and all others.

Sportsmanship

Model fair play, respect, and inclusivity.

Environment

Respect the environment, don’t litter, clean up after your horse and trailer.
